12 Hours of So Cal Race #2

The team rearing to race

It was a great showing for the Phoenix Patriot Foundation (PPF) riders at the 12 Hours of SOCAL Series # 2. Five riders in total were able to come out to Temecula in order to participate in Jason Ranoa’s premier Southern California endurance bike race. Although the weather was hot, everyone in attendance put on an outstanding performance in the men’s solo category. Most importantly having the team out in mass further allowed us to raise awareness and funds for the Phoenix Patriot Foundation. All together PPF riders were able to raise $200.00 for the foundation.

Jason’s ability to choose a route that best defines mountain biking was once again accomplished. The nine mile course had it all; technical downhill, climbing (1,000' per lap), single track and a small mix of fire road. It seems like every time we come back to race in this event, that it just keeps on getting better. Thank you for making mountain bike racing in SOCAL that much better.

A special thanks to the individuals who volunteered their time to assist the PPF team riders in getting back out onto the course after each lap. This allowed all the riders quick turnaround times while in the pit. Having the extra hands onsite made a world of a difference.
Our pit area - the volunteer help was MUCH appreciated

The team would like to once again show appreciation to our sponsors (Infinite Nutrition, Rotor USA, Schwalbe Tires, SRAM, B+L Bike and Sports) for your continued support. Having the best equipment and bikes makes a difference when we are out doing these long events.

Navy SEAL Mountain Bike Team Aligns Efforts with Phoenix Patriot Foundation

San Diego, CA - The Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Flyin' Frogs, the Navy SEAL mountain bike team, announced today they will officially endorse Phoenix Patriot Foundation (PPF) and compete nationally to increase public awareness on behalf of wounded veterans through the wearing of PPF’s logo on their race kit. The team formed in 2007 when a group of like-minded riders with a shared NSW background decided that the sum of their collective efforts and abilities was greater than any one individual. For the first time ever, the Flyin’ Frogs will begin production of their race kit for public consumption. This production line is being designed by Canari, one of PPF’s proud supporters, with all profits being donated directly to PPF.

It became apparent to the team that long race formats tipped the scale in their favor and they won their first National Point Series in 2008 and again in 2009 at 24 Hours of Adrenalin in Hurkey Creek, CA. "Now we've found a more purposeful challenge of raising awareness for our nation's wounded patriots," said Eric Skalski, Flyin’ Frogs Team Captain. Co-Captain, Guy McDermott, continued stating that “all too often wounded veterans are released and forgotten about and of the numerous projects and foundations for wounded veterans, we are supporting PPF because of their holistic approach to recovery and their flexible, service-oriented reintegration process that allows each individual to decide how they want to go on with life."

When referring to the Flyin' Frogs and their newly forged partnership, Jared Ogden, founder of PPF commented, “Their personal understanding of teamwork, selflessness, and sacrifice makes them ideal to promote our shared mission. We are honored with their decision to support PPF and I know that together, we will have significant impact on the lives of the men and women who have sacrificed while defending our freedoms.”
